Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A weekend of give and take that grades a C-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Johnson. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 52 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
Ricky Pearsall in Round 2, Pick 21 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Theo Johnson at pick 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Simpson at No. 154 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kitan Oladapo in No. 155 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let a wide receiver like Cornelius Johnson reach pick No. 210 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
