It is the swing that defines the weekend: Kedon Slovis in pick 244, a good 61 spots before the room expected him.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Ja'Lynn Polk in Round 3, Pick 24, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in slot 90; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Gabriel Murphy in the 93rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braelon Allen at No. 126 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tanor Bortolini a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaylan Ford slid further than he should have, and the 216th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zion Logue. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kedon Slovis this early at Round 7, Pick 24. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
