There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Vikings started one anyway for Devin Culp, 72 picks ahead of schedule.
Whatever J.J. McCarthy becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
Getting Bertrand where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 23 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Zak Zinter at slot 108 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ty'Ron Hopper at Round 4, Pick 29 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Dillon Johnson at the 157th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
