Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Mason Reiger at pick No. 107 is 40 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The Slaughter steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Brandon Cisse in slot 39, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in pick 70, with Jake Slaughter worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Mason Reiger at Round 4, Pick 7 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Eric Rivers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bryce Boettcher at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Wright at the 206th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Jalon Daniels in the 248th pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
