You build a draft on nights like this. Cornelius Johnson had no business being available in slot 216, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Every board in the league had Hunt lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Braden Fiske in pick No. 56 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaac Guerendo a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Jalyx Hunt in the 130th overall pick says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kamal Hadden in pick 174. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cornelius Johnson at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on KT Leveston in slot 233, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Darius Muasau at the 244th pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
