Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jake Golday got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at pick 84. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Christen Miller at pick 52 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They will replay Jake Golday at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 120th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Nate Boerkircher went about where he belonged in No. 160. It fills a real need, too.
Le'Veon Moss at pick No. 201 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Jatta in the 236th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Miller Moss in Round 7, Pick 39. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
