You build a draft on nights like this. Jake Majors had no business being available in slot 164, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
Reaching for Zuhn III left real value on the table behind him. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They went 3 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
If Will Johnson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren in pick 63 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 128 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a linebacker like Cody Simon reach the 160th overall pick and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Jake Majors at slot 164 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 166th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
