Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Eagles, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Smith. They are betting Hall proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
Quinyon Mitchell in slot 17 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
In the 23rd pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Theo Johnson at the 120th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Fair-plus on Luke McCaffrey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dylan Laube in Round 5, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in pick 171, with Tykee Smith worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Walter Rouse higher than pick No. 172, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
