If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Taulia Tagovailoa at slot 255 is 33 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
They liked Junior Colson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 41. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Calen Bullock in the 88th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Gabriel Murphy at pick No. 91, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Blake Fisher at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
