The Chiefs lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The Vidal pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
That Mitchell pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Steal is underselling it; Adonai Mitchell at Round 2, Pick 32 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had cheaper options than Khyree Jackson at the 87th overall pick, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
