The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Justin Walley, the No. 220 name on the board, in the 243rd overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. They will need Ivey to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a true top target, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Jonah Savaiinaea in slot 57, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dylan Fairchild at No. 77 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

No drama and no debate, Trey Moore went about where he belonged in pick No. 202. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Germie Bernard in the Round 7 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Justin Walley in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
