Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Chargers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Ford falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Troy Franklin at pick No. 37 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
T.J. Tampa at pick 63 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in the 69th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Blake Corum at par in Round 3, Pick 20, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Khyree Jackson slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Jones at the 140th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaylan Ford in the 225th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A straight-up fair deal on LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 253, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
