The Cowboys spent real capital to be 53 picks early on Zion Logue, and the board is going to hold them to it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That Jacobs pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 26th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Patrick Paul at slot 56 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Braelon Allen a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid a round early for Beaux Limmer in the 114th pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Johnny Wilson in pick 131, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Tommy Eichenberg, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 17. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Grayson Murphy at the 174th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A quiet steal in the 215th pick: Curtis Jacobs for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joe Milton III slipping to pick No. 216 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Zion Logue, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
