Green Bay Packers

A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Packers walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Reaching for Zinter left real value on the table behind him. On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
They went early on Edgerrin Cooper in slot 41, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 58
Braden Fiske at pick No. 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 105
Zak Zinter in pick 91 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
Christian Jones in Round 4, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 181
The board had cheaper options than Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 169, and it noticed. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 188
They read the board right and Cornelius Johnson was the payoff at the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
Garret Greenfield in pick No. 219 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 259
Rasheen Ali at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 255
They took Tyler Owens at par in Round 7, Pick 35, which is nothing to complain about. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
