You build a draft on nights like this. Jake Slaughter had no business being available in No. 84, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Black lower, and that gap is the story.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at the 52nd overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Jake Slaughter still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Treydan Stukes in pick 120 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Marlin Klein, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Kaelon Black, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke Altmyer. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trey Zuhn III in No. 255 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
