Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The Coleman pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Olumuyiwa Fashanu in Round 2, Pick 2 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Corley at pick No. 47 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Audric Estime went about where he belonged in No. 104. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in pick 136, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
They did well to land Dwight McGlothern in the 182nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
