The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kris Jenkins, the 69th pick, roughly 19 picks past where he belonged.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Fisher to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Malik Nabers at the 5th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in slot 37, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Kris Jenkins in pick No. 69, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zak Zinter in the 105th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A conviction pick on Blake Fisher at the Round 4 slot that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fair-plus on Jarrian Jones, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Isaiah Davis at pick 150 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Nathaniel Watson higher than Round 7, Pick 5, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
