Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent pick No. 168 on Tanor Bortolini, a name the board had a full 49 spots lower.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Brownlee Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Amarius Mims went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Chris Braswell at slot 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in pick 58: T.J. Tampa for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in the 88th overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Javon Baker at par in the 91st pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who had no business lasting to pick No. 127. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tanor Bortolini well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; Rasheen Ali in Round 6, Pick 29 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Garret Greenfield in the 216th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at No. 243 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Demani Richardson at slot 251, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
