Call it larceny. Edgerrin Cooper sat on the board until the 69th pick, and the Chargers did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper DeJean in No. 37. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 69 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jalen McMillan at Round 4, Pick 5 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 110 with a little surplus value in Braelon Allen. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Justin Eboigbe in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tip Reiman at the 181st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Myles Murphy in slot 225 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on LaDarius Henderson in the 253rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
