The Cowboys spent real capital to be 37 picks early on De'Corian Clark, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in slot 56. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 87th overall pick with a little surplus value in Khyree Jackson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Jaylan Ford in No. 173, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
De'Corian Clark at the 231st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Trevin Wallace in the 242nd pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
