The rest of the league had time to spare on Jordan Burch; the Commanders did not wait, grabbing him 35 spots ahead at the Round 2 slot.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Thornton Jr.. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a downhill hitter at safety at a price that makes it sweeter.
Jordan Burch at slot 61 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mason Taylor at Round 3, Pick 15 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Logan Brown at par in the 148th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 207 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and LaJohntay Wester at No. 238 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Hunter Wohler at Round 7, Pick 32 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
