The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dontay Corleone fell into the Round 3 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Kanak left real value on the table behind him.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Jeremiyah Love is a better player than the Round 1 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
In pick No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Anthony Hill Jr. was still sitting there in slot 60, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Dontay Corleone reach the 92nd overall pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Bryce Lance at pick 112 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah World went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in No. 177 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 40, where Kevin Coleman Jr. graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Jaren Kanak in slot 218, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
