Nobody else had Kedon Slovis anywhere near Round 7, Pick 11. The Cowboys did, by 83 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They went early on Patrick Paul in pick No. 56, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Khyree Jackson in No. 76; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen at slot 92 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
