This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tanner McLachlan, the No. 207 name on the board, stolen at pick 225.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Roman Wilson at the 37th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braelon Allen at No. 105 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They took Mekhi Wingo at par in slot 110, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Jarrian Jones in pick No. 140, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Grayson Murphy in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Tanner McLachlan at the 225th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Josh Wallace went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
