Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Dolphins were there to profit. Roger Rosengarten, the No. 135 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 184th pick.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
T'Vondre Sweat in the 42nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Braden Fiske in pick 55 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 59, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sedrick Van Pran at No. 86 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Beau Brade at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Roger Rosengarten at the 184th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Kamal Hadden in Round 6, Pick 23 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in slot 241: Tayvion Robinson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Trevin Wallace higher than No. 247, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
