The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jermod McCoy, the No. 17 name on the board, in No. 218.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get an every-down engine for the run game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
A quiet steal in Round 1, Pick 20: David Bailey for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Mansoor Delane in slot 92 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Sonny Styles in the 112th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Spencer Fano in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Kayden McDonald all the way to pick No. 177, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Jordyn Tyson at the 180th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jermod McCoy at No. 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
