A respectable, level-headed haul for the Giants: B.

Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Giants to leave a draft.

The James pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 11
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 43
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at No. 43 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · D.J. James · CB · rank 62
D.J. James at the 47th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 75
Junior Colson at pick No. 70 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
