Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Will Shipley at pick 92 is 37 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Chris Braswell at the 41st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in slot 57. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at pick No. 88, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Will Shipley in Round 3, Pick 29 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jarrian Jones at the 125th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javion Cohen at slot 135 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jase McClellan. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Jones reach pick 217 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in No. 219, with Jawhar Jordan worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tatum Bethune at the 246th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
