For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
The Heidenreich pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, McNeil-Warren makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 49th overall pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Domonique Orange at the 82nd pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jonah Coleman at No. 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick 97, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 126, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Bryce Boettcher in Round 5, Pick 23; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Marlin Klein in slot 165 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Tanner Koziol at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Domani Jackson in slot 182 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nothing to complain about; Ephesians Prysock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
No drama and no debate, Toriano Pride Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 4. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
No edge and no loss on Kaden Wetjen in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
A conviction pick on Eli Heidenreich at pick No. 235 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Josh Cuevas at the 244th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
