If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chiefs would have aced it. Mohamed Kamara at the 101st pick is 31 spots clear of where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Sainristil at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Patrick Paul in No. 60 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at slot 85, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Mike Sainristil in the 95th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Mohamed Kamara at the 101st overall pick, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 103 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Johnny Wilson in slot 132. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Marist Liufau in Round 5, Pick 37, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
