You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Will Kacmarek at the Round 7 slot, roughly 68 spots before his name belonged.
On value alone, Lance makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Jacob Rodriguez slipping to the 59th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Christen Miller was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Julian Neal at Round 4, Pick 20, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Bryce Lance here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Charles Demmings in pick 160 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Bryson Eason in pick No. 211, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fernando Carmona at Round 7, Pick 20 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Will Kacmarek in pick 250, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in slot 255, where Andre Fuller graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
