When a board-topper like Treydan Stukes slides to pick No. 92, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Sonny Styles at the 20th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Treydan Stukes in pick No. 92 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in the 112th pick with a little surplus value in Bud Clark. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Charles Demmings. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Tanner Koziol higher than slot 177, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Kaleb Elarms-Orr in Round 5, Pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
