Green Bay Packers

A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B.

Nobody had Kaelon Black this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 67 spots to get him at pick No. 160. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Stribling that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.30 · Pick 62 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 59
They did well to land Christen Miller in No. 62, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 73
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Domonique Orange. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Ted Hurst · WR · rank 89
Ted Hurst in pick No. 88 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · De'Zhaun Stribling · WR · rank 98
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 8, where De'Zhaun Stribling graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 119
No edge and no loss on Julian Neal in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.24 · Pick 124 · Trey Zuhn III · C · rank 127
No drama and no debate, Trey Zuhn III went about where he belonged in pick 124. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.13 · Pick 153 · Charles Demmings · CB · rank 151
By-the-book stuff, Charles Demmings at slot 153 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Kaelon Black · RB · rank 227
Kaelon Black at pick 160 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.20 · Pick 201 · Sawyer Robertson · QB · rank 216
Sawyer Robertson at pick No. 201 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.20 · Pick 236 · Andre Fuller · CB · rank 244
Andre Fuller in the 236th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.39 · Pick 255 · Will Kacmarek · TE · rank 319
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Kacmarek in the Round 7 slot, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
