Cleveland Browns

The Browns let Styles fall and pounced. Final grade: A.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Browns came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.

On value alone, Styles makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

The veteran additions, Bernhard Raimann chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 11
In pick No. 31 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Denzel Boston · WR · rank 31
Denzel Boston in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Caleb Tiernan · OT · rank 57
They paid a round early for Caleb Tiernan in No. 47, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Keylan Rutledge · OG · rank 74
They took Keylan Rutledge at par in the 70th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Malachi Fields · WR · rank 79
They let Malachi Fields come to them and pounced at pick 95. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Sam Roush · TE · rank 93
The board had Sam Roush higher than Round 4, Pick 7, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 94
Devin Moore slipping to No. 109 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.6 · Pick 146 · Dametrious Crownover · OT · rank 146
No edge and no loss on Dametrious Crownover in Round 5, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.9 · Pick 149 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 158
Drew Allar at pick No. 149 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.25 · Pick 206 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 192
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ephesians Prysock in the 206th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
