Whoever sat across the table from the Chiefs should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Thrash pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
If Greenfield pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had Jordan Morgan higher than pick 43, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 67th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Michael Hall Jr. in slot 79 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Mohamed Kamara at No. 109 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Johnny Wilson at par in pick No. 120, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tommy Eichenberg at the 143rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 16, where Kitan Oladapo graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nice patience on Jamari Thrash, who had no business lasting to pick No. 159. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Simpson in No. 173. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Garret Greenfield in the 221st pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
