Thirty-one other rooms let Kamal Hadden slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at pick No. 174. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in slot 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
McKinnley Jackson in the 87th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
MarShawn Lloyd in pick 124 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Kamal Hadden in pick No. 174 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Steele Chambers at No. 245 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
