Nobody had Jordan Travis this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 61 spots to get him at Round 3, Pick 13.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Roberts.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
The board had cheaper options than Troy Fautanu at slot 34, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Travis in Round 3, Pick 13 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tory Horton. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ray Davis well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Braden Fiske in pick 139, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaylin Simpson slid further than he should have, and pick No. 180 is lovely value for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A wild overpay on Brevyn Spann-Ford in pick 183, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in slot 223, with Willie Roberts worth more than the price. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Benjamin Yurosek at the 226th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
