The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and James Williams fell into the 150th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Ford lower, and that gap is the story. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Cooper DeJean in the 25th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Quinyon Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 9, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They did well to land Junior Colson in pick 58, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Devontez Walker in pick No. 88 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jaden Hicks slid further than he should have, and the 96th pick is lovely value for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Fisher slipping to No. 126 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Elijah Jones in slot 138 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled James Williams all the way to pick 150, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 32. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A conviction pick on Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 169 that the board grades a round light. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A wild overpay on Jaylan Ford in No. 180, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.

A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 249 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kimani Vidal in Round 7, Pick 35 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
