Thirty-one other rooms let Myles Jones slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at the 233rd pick. Highway robbery.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Joe Alt in the 6th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They will replay Jermaine Burton at the 70th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Jeremiah Trotter Jr. come to them and pounced at slot 76. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They robbed the room for Malik Washington here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Frank Gore Jr. at No. 185 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Myles Jones in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Taulia Tagovailoa in Round 7, Pick 21 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
