Somebody in pick No. 92 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Jake Golday, the No. 59 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 18 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 20th pick they get a centerpiece for the ground game, and a steal at that.
They took Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Steal is underselling it; Jake Golday at Round 3, Pick 28 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ja'Kobi Lane slid further than he should have, and the 112th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
