After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Coleman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
If Jacobs pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Adonai Mitchell in the 36th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chris Braswell at No. 40 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Keon Coleman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in Round 3, Pick 36, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach for Braelon Allen in the 101st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Curtis Jacobs in slot 178 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Tip Reiman in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
