Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 132 is 49 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The Grable pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in slot 32, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 41 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor itch, scratched.
T.J. Tampa at the 58th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Max Melton slipping to pick 88 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Cole Bishop in the 91st pick; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
