This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Golday, the No. 58 name on the board, stolen at slot 92. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Douglas to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a green-dot type in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 20 with a little surplus value in Jermod McCoy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jake Golday at the 92nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Bud Clark at slot 112 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A conviction pick on Caleb Douglas at the 152nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Taylen Green at Round 5, Pick 37, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
