The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Malik Muhammad, the No. 99 name on the board, sitting there at the 123rd overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Douglas has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 22nd pick they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let Elijah Sarratt come to them and pounced at No. 86. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Treydan Stukes at the 92nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Bud Clark in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Malik Muhammad at pick 123 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Caleb Douglas in Round 5, Pick 12 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Kaleb Elarms-Orr at slot 177 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Taylen Green, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
