Thirty-one other rooms let A.J. Haulcy slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the 112th pick. Highway robbery.

Taylor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Jeremiyah Love · RB · rank 2
In the Round 1 slot they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In slot 20 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 96
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Treydan Stukes at pick 111. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · A.J. Haulcy · S · rank 50
A safety of that caliber at the 112th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 133
Harold Perkins Jr. at Round 4, Pick 16 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.12 · Pick 152 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 137
DeMonte Capehart slid further than he should have, and the 152nd pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.15 · Pick 155 · Trey Moore · LB-EDGE · rank 181
A big swing on Trey Moore at No. 155, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Louis Moore · S · rank 166
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Louis Moore at pick No. 177 is the proof. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Bryce Boettcher · LB · rank 172
Bryce Boettcher at pick 180 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Logan Taylor · OG · rank 259
Logan Taylor at No. 218 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · Kaden Wetjen · WR · rank 223
They robbed the room for Kaden Wetjen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
