You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Eagles did exactly that with Mason Reiger in the 98th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Reese at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
A tidy little value on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in No. 54, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Germie Bernard in the 68th overall pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mason Reiger at Round 3, Pick 34 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Charles Demmings. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Jaeden Roberts at pick No. 137 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nate Boerkircher in Round 5, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Aamil Wagner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taylen Green slid further than he should have, and pick 197 is lovely value for the quarterback. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
