Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Xavier Worthy, the No. 56 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 127. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The cost of the Ford reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
In pick No. 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 24
They let Terrion Arnold come to them and pounced at pick 41. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 39
Tyler Nubin in No. 58 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 67
They barely believed it either: Patrick Paul still on the board at slot 88. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 96
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 28, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 56
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Worthy at the 127th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 196
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at the 168th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 201
Justin Rogers at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 203
Drake Nugent slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 41 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 218
Michael Barrett at pick No. 243 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 224
Circle this one: Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
