The rest of the league will want that one back. Justin Joly tumbling to the Jets in pick 140 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Beck reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick No. 16 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Anthony Hill Jr. in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A quiet steal in pick 44: Brandon Cisse for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Carson Beck at Round 4, Pick 3 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Justin Joly at the 140th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
