New England Patriots

The Patriots did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Patriots will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The cost of the Thomas reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · KC Concepcion · WR · rank 27
In pick 31 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Derrick Moore · DE-EDGE · rank 62
Derrick Moore at slot 63 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Chandler Rivers · CB · rank 97
By-the-book stuff, Chandler Rivers at Round 3, Pick 31 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Jude Bowry · OT · rank 128
No drama and no debate, Jude Bowry went about where he belonged in pick No. 125. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Jakobe Thomas · S · rank 140
Jakobe Thomas at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
