The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Perry proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Caleb Williams went about where he belonged in slot 2. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Troy Franklin slipping to the 36th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Graham Barton at No. 40 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Haynes at the 67th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jamari Thrash is a better player than pick No. 102 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Theo Johnson at Round 5, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Rasheen Ali at pick 181, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on Mark Perry, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
